TINTED GLASS

 

Glass to be maintained.

Any glass transparent material fitted to a motor vehicle shall be maintained in such condition so as not to obscure the vision of the driver while the vehicle is being driven on the road.

 

Curtain and etc.

 

A curtain, venetian blind or other material shall not be fitted to or used in a motor vehicle to shield the interior of the motor vehicle. It shall not apply to a bus or caravan. Provided that such curtain, venetian blind or  other material shall not be fitted to or used on the side windows immediately to the left or right side of the driver. Notwithstanding anything in these, shall not apply to a sun visor fitted to a motor vehicle of the type fitted by the manufacturer of that make of vehicle.

 

Prohibition of tinting and etc.

 

No windscreen of any motor vehicle shall be tinted, smeared, filmed over, sprayed, pasted, fitted or otherwise treated or combined with any material, chemical or substance which does not permit transmission through such  windscreen of at least seventy percent visible light as determined through the use of a prescribed instrument by an authorized officer shall be guilty of an offence. It shall not apply to the area at the uppermost part of the windscreen of the motor vehicle and such area shall not exceed  twenty percent of the  length of the windscreen.

Without prejudice, no glass or other transparent material fitted to any part of a motor vehicle other than the windscreen shall be fitted, smeared, filmed over, sprayed, pasted, fitted, or otherwise treated or combined with any material, chemical or substance which does not permit the transmission through such glass or other transparent material of at least fifty percent visible light as determined though the use of a prescribed instrument by an authorized officer shall be guilty of an offence. It also shall not apply to the side windows other than the side windows immediately to the left or right side of the driver of all types of bus or caravan.
